We bought bicycles over the weekend and had a great time cruising around. Since we don't have a car, the bikes will make it easier (and faster!) for us to get places that are a little too far to walk. They are your typical Japanese bicycles with a basket in the front and a child seat on the back. Actually, child seats are most common on women's bikes here, but I certainly appreciate Dad having one too for our weekend outings!
Many Japanese women take their little ones to / from school on their bikes. And having two child seats (one in front and one in back) is very common. I saw this woman once with three kids on her bike; one in the back seat, one in the front seat and one strapped to her back. Now that's talented!
