A Benefit to Jet Lag

I was up at 4:00 a.m. this morning and after trying to fall back asleep for an hour, I just decided to get up.  Since we still don't have our boxes (or a television!) there was not much to do except send some e-mails and read a magazine I had stashed in my purse for the flight.  I also was able to enjoy a beautiful sunrise over Tokyo Bay. These pictures doesn't do it justice through our living room window, but I had to share.

If you look very closely, you can see some white stuff on the rooftops of the buildings.  It snowed last night!  Of course, we were in bed too early to see it.  One of our neighbors said she went outside to take pictures since she hasn't seen snow in two years.  And we thought we had left snow behind... 

We also took a long train ride this morning outside the city to shop at Carrefour - the French version of Wal-Mart in Tokyo. (Who knew!)  We loaded up on some desperately needed household items, but then we had to schlep it all home.  That is a trip we won't be making very often.
