Tanabata Wishes

Tanabata is a star festival held every year on July 7th. It's believed that separated lovers, Orihime (Weaver Star Princess, Vega) and Hikoboshi (Cowherd Star, Altair), meet each other across the Milky Way on this day.

In Japan, people celebrate by writing wishes on a piece of paper called tanzaku and hanging them on bamboo leaves, sometimes with other decorations. The bamboo and decorations are often set afloat on a river or burned after the festival.
